UK inflation numbers
The ONS released consumer and producer price indices for January today, showing a rise in the rate of inflation, confirmed by all four of the major measures.
The consumer price index (CPI), the retail price index (RPI), the RPI excluding mortgage interest payment (RPIX) and the producer price index all showed continued rises. The CPI fell month on month, but this was the smallest fall recorded (the CPI has always fallen from December to January, but never by this little.
